Welcome to the SBDC Business Information Library, sponsored by the Verizon Communications Foundation.

This library serves as a “one-stop” center for information concerning starting, running or managing a small business. In here you will find the following:

• Small Business Checklists: Checklists for Retail Businesses, Small Restaurants, Inventory-Based Companies and Service-Based Companies as well as an Errors of Omission Checklist. These lists enable the small business owner to take a “snapshot” of the company and its perceived structure/performance and thus enable the owner to devise plans of action to correct any areas that he or she considers deficient.
  
• Small Business Resource Books: Seven of these information-packed booklets are authored by the writers at New Ground Publications and address a variety of business management areas from, among others, Writing a Business Plan; Understanding Commercial Lending; Small Business Report Card and Buying and Selling a Business. Two of the publications are from Corporate Turnaround and provide information on how to restructure existing small business debt and thus, hopefully prevent a small business owner from going into bankruptcy.
  
• Small Business Website Links: This listing contains links to a variety of websites that small business owners can use when managing their business or researching information to help them run their business.
  
• Veteran-Owned Business Information: Information here is specifically tailored to Veteran-Owned and Service Disabled Veteran-Owned small businesses. Excellent information for business owners who are in the National Guard or Reserve and for those on active duty who are in the process of transitioning to civilian life who are considering owning their own business.
  Virginia Beach Defense Center: This site is an initiative by the Military Economic Development Advisory Committee to help small business owners expand their government contracting capabilities.
• Procurement Technical Assistance Program Information: A link to the Virginia Procurement Technical Assistance Program webpage, which contains a wealth of information for those small business owners who are contemplating selling goods or services to the Federal Government.
• Tax Information: The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website has a great deal of information that is pertinent to small business owners at their Small Business and Self-Employed Tax Center.
